HISTORY

Founded in 1931 in Borgo San Lorenzo (Florence) by Antonio Rossi, Rossi 1931 srl developed its production skills during the years, supported by the success of its fine stationery and decorative papers that were more and more appreciated all over the world. Since its establishment, Rossi 1931 srl has come a long way.
Antonio gave a great impulse to his  artisan activity developing a small production of fine cards and paper for correspondance, mainly addressed to foreign tourists who after the second world war started to visit  the major Italian cities of Art.

Shortly before the 35th anniversary of his activity, on June 2, 1965 the President of the Italian Republic conferred the decoration of “Cavaliere” to Antonio Rossi  for his working  merits.
In the following years Giorgio, his son, started to compete in  a larger market. He made a hard engagement that  had positive results thanks to the constant research of advanced technologies that could be compatible with the peculiar characteristics of traditonal production.
In 1988 Rossi 1931 srl acquired the company “Edizioni d’Arte Dordoni” a prestigious art publishing  house in Milan. This enabled Rossi 1931 srl to come into possession of an archive of more than 6.000 art reproductions belonging to the major international museums and therefore,  to offer its customers a greater and fascinating choice  of everyday cards.

The 70th anniversary  of the foundation of the company, in 2001, coincided with a further enlargement of the factory and the introduction  of new and highly specialized machines.
The main building  has actually reached about  5.000 sqm and in 2003 it was completely renovated and reorganized to face the third millennium with a new impulse.
The secret of Rossi’s great success is a mixture  of love for the Italian tradition and attention to technological innovations. Despite the great development  of the past years, Rossi 1931 srl keeps intact its traditional structure  based on a family system.

Greeting cards of any kind, fine stationery, writing papers, journals, decorative papers and gift items are the heart of Rossi’s production.

It is in the factory of Borgo San Lorenzo that the synthesis of creativity, artisan skills and technical ability becomes reality.
A very important hot relief stamping system is at work here and it is used especially for the production  of cards which are unique in their taste and technical realization. The printing process used for the production of wrapping papers is based on ancient technical devices that give a peculiar  brilliancy to the colors. Moreover, gold finishing is printed by using bronze powder. There are many  modern machines that allow our skilled workers to secure day by day a constant and planned superior  production.
